Model Trains Love That Rock And Roll

Seriously. They do. Or at least the wheel carriages do. that’s what they’re designed for! They act like shocks on your automobile. When you are out driving your automobile, and you travel over rough terrain or over bumps in the road, what keeps your car from bouncing all over the place, or from bottoming out and scraping the road? That’s right, my friend, your shock absorbers!

Well, on you good ol’ o gauge friend, the wheel carriages do the same thing. If they are not freed up enough to rock and roll around, they won’t be able to absorb the irregularities that might be in your layout, natural flaws of the materials, or warping that might be caused by temperature variations. And then, guess what! Right again - your beautiful model will be over on its side…

So let those carriages rock and roll, and your train will roll to the beat of its own drummer!
