It's part of the engine control system, which is one and the same with the emissions controls on a modern vehicle. I wouldn't call it an "Emissions Part" per se, but there is no way that it could cause mechanical engine failure unless you unbolted it, unplugged it and dropped it into the oil filler.<br><b>References : </b><br> Both. The warranty company can write any component as exclusionary even if it is a matter of opinion although it has to be clearly stated in your policy.
