You’re probably right about Rudd, though - I would never trust a politician not to have a hidden agenda, usually either to line his pockets or cover his backside.

The government, majorityh xtians alas, has made this event so big to push their own xtian agenda. NO to gay marriage is but one of the things civilized people would abolish but the xtians in power wont do it. Howard and Rudd are both members of the same church. There is nothing but collusion and right wing xtian agendas in Australian politics. Just look at the draconian laws put into place to protect these "tourists" the rights to protest and free speech quashed in favour of a 2000yo novel.
