Why is the media spending so much time on WYD?

While Kevin and his mates try to slip through their dodgy emissions trading papers?
Now we know why labour were so keen on sponsoring the whole thing.

The media is spending such a rediculous amount of airtime on WYD because theyve been told to. The government, majorityh xtians alas, has made this event so big to push their own xtian agenda. NO to gay marriage is but one of the things civilized people would abolish but the xtians in power wont do it. Howard and Rudd are both members of the same church. There is nothing but collusion and right wing xtian agendas in Australian politics. Just look at the draconian laws put into place to protect these "tourists" the rights to protest and free speech quashed in favour of a 2000yo novel.
Keep your eyes peeled for more of this nonsense in the future.

  5. One third of all Australians are Catholic - not, however, including Mr Rudd. And the visitors are bringing in plenty of money and we will reap the goodwill - so many of the pilgrims say they have fallen in love with Australia and will return as students or tourists.

You’re probably right about Rudd, though - I would never trust a politician not to have a hidden agenda, usually either to line his pockets or cover his backside.

As for the media - they are in business to make money, and the editors will cover whatever they think will sell newspapers or get TV/radio ratings.
