Its a perverted form of carbon tax. I’d prefer a straight-up carbon tax than this nonsense. Giving free ‘carbon credits’ to the largest carbon emitters such as operators of coal-fired power stations defeats the entire purpose of a carbon tax as there is no economic disincentive (but in fact, an incentive to keep operating them!). This ETS is an abomination.

Absolutely not–

As it will kill businesses (especially in regional Australia)
Prices for utilities such as electricity will rise
Food prices will go up
The mining industry which Australia depends on for growth will be decimated
And the saddest thing is that there will be no reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions

Vote Liberal in 2010

Emissions Trading Scheme aka Another Tax why would anyone vote for a new tax, if Emissions Trading Scheme this was so good for Australia why does Kevin Rudd keep it a secret from the Australian public
