Why are Democrats for reducing CO2 emissions, but not for Deforestation Prevention and Reforestation?

Democrats will spend Billions on reducing CO2 Emissions(Cap and Trade), but will not spend anything on Deforestation Prevention and Reforestation. The forests of the world can process the extra CO2 only if they are not cut down. Reducing CO2 output will not solve the problem at all unless you also reforest.
Example: Obama voting against reforestation at the REDD Climate Summit in Copenhagen last month.

Simply put, because there’s no money or power in reforestation. People like Al Gore can’t get rich by planting trees, but they can by trading carbon credits.

  3. Because cutting down the CO2 emissions makes people "feel good". Planting trees takes work which, sadly, not many people want to do anymore.
