Duke Energy’s large-scale Edwardsport IGCC project may well end up being the biggest construction project in Indiana history. When it opens in 2012, the facility will make history as the largest in the world to use integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) technology to produce electricity while reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

    With the right investments in technology, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make the science of climate change irrelevant.

    The technology isnt 20 years away — some of it is here today. There have already been technology demonstrations of greenhouse gas emissions control for existing power plants. American Electric Power has already announced the commercial deployment of these technologies at two of their larger older units one of them is the Mountaineer Plant in WV.
