How Playing the Violin Can Give an Unborn Child a

Posted on February 8th, 2010 by admin

Several scientific studies show that children, regardless of age, can hear and “feel” everything around them. But what kind of music can really bring out the best in a child’s mind? Don Campbell, the author of the bestselling book, “Mozart Effect for Children” wrote that classical music has a huge impact on a child’s brain development. This also holds true for unborn children who do not even have fully developed ears yet. Campbell wrote that unborn children can “feel” the music through their bodies.

A lot of parents who play classical music on the violin noticed that their children, even without instruction, were able to learn how to play the violin without any difficulty. They also noted that their children seem to have a longer attention span compared to their peers. Many scientists believe that this is due to early exposure to music. This is especially true for mothers who played an instrument during pregnancy. It is a known fact that pregnant women who express themselves in playing music are able to handle the emotional and physical changes in their body. As a logical effect, feelings of anxiety and depression are replaced by calmness, thus, providing the unborn child with a pleasant environment, conducive for brain stimulation.

Research also shows that classical music provides more brain stimulation than any other genres of music. One study proved that students who have been exposed to classical music for a few minutes before taking an exam received higher grades than students who have not listened to music before taking the exam.

Every individual is different. Thus, it is important to determine which type of music will generate a sense of calmness and balance in ourselves. Classical music, such as Mozart, have helped a lot of people in many ways. Considering the hundreds of pieces that he wrote, there will definitely be at least one that will be an inspiration to one single individual.
