Interviews and Power Point Presentations
One of the worst things that I see when young doctors attend their medical interview to get onto a speciality training system, is that they insist on reading every word on their slides.
It is irritating, pointless and completely counterproductive.
The point of the interview presentation is to use the time to allow the interview panel to feel that they know you a little better after the interview than the did before you walked in to face the medical interview panel.
So, you should know your subject matter well enough that you know the jist and the flow that you want the talk to produce. You don’t need to memorise every word and it doesn’t matter if you use a different word on the day.
The interviewer would much rather hear you talk than listen to a parrot.
