Massage therapy has been around for thousands and thousands of years and all in their own way manipulate our body tissues but as you would expect muscles are concentrated on the most. Eighty different types of massage therapies exist but as far as I am concerned, there is a big overlap between them. Simply various forms of massage therapy styles have been modified due to cultures, fashions and the march of time.
The most common known form of massage is arguably Swedish massage but all the massage therapists utilize lots of pieces of their body different parts of their bodies (e.g. feet, knees, hands, wrists, elbows) to try and relax muscles, increase blood supply etc etc so to promote relaxation and/or healing. If you want to become a massage therapist, check out this website for an summary of how to choose one of the many therapeutic massage courses available.
