My car passed emission test but I couldn’t get inspection sticker?

Posted on January 18th, 2010 by admin

2003 Toyota Matrix because codes went on. I have no lights on instrument panel that suggest a problem. They want me to drive 100 miles an bring it back. I havn’t disconnected battery, Codes have to do with CO2 emissions. If you have 2 codes, you don’t pass. Is this for real? Or is this BS. codes on but yet emission test passed.

how often do you drive the car .also how long did the car warm up go before you brought it in computer picked up that the co2 was high only way to correct it is to drive it .get it out on the highway you won’t have to do all 100 miles on it but do at least the last 30 or so on it when you bring it back you should be fine

This is BS. Take it to another place.

It’s a pass or fail test. There is more than one test to pass to get your car though the inspection. If you fail you need to make the correction, no exceptions.

The reason they are telling you to drive it for 100 miles is to see if the code resets itself without mechanical repairs.

Do some research on the error code. Call your mechanic. An o2 sensor isn’t an expensive repair if it’s a bad sensor.

The vehicle wouldn’t pass the emission tests if a light was on. But some systems like the fuel evap. system require 2 trips to set the light.

You need to pull the code and see what sensor is flaging a problem.
