    united states should be “CAPITALISED” eg. “United States”. Also, For example should’ve been abbreviated, eg. “eg.”.

    I live in TN & have lived in AL, CA, TX & FL, so I know the ways of the south too. My spelling of the mispronounced “suite” should have been “suit” - as in adverts for furniture: “come on down to Gayfers for your new bedroom suit.” I use to wonder how you turned all that wooden furniture into a matching jacket & trousers.
    Erb seems to be accepted, except in New England where it’s herb, as in English. I hear sixt, heighth, acrost, estetic, impordant, Febyuary, growed … regularly.

    The pronunciation of aluminum was actually changed to fit the rest of the elements - it was originally aluminum. At least, that’s what I’ve heard. Also, people here (I’m actually deep in the redneck south) pronounce route as route “route 66″ for example, and across as across, height as height, it’s technically also correct for herb to have a silent h, and who says “soot” for suite (sweet?)? Only bush says new-killer, but we all know he’s retarded. The rest of those are fairly true.

    ALUMINUM exists only in USA/Canada. For the rest of the English-speaking world, it’s ALUMINIUM. Now say after me: ALU-MINIUM there isn’t that easy? You’ve heard of sodium, magnesium, potassium, calcium, strontium, barium, beryllium etc. etc. Now try ALUMINIUM. Get it? Yanks live in their own “little” world.
