But, provided you want to do this more legally, change your spark plugs and oil. It will help, but it won't fix the problem which is usually related to the catalytic converter. Unfortunately they're expensive.

If &#34;small exhaust leaks are no big deal&#34; (ask the mechanic), then punch your exhaust system before the cat so the exhaust has another place to go.
