How can i make my car pass emissions test?

I am a broke college student but need to pass stupid emissions test so i can get my registration renewed. Now my car is a ‘93 buick park avenue and every test is passing except the N0x test. does anyone know of a cheap way to make this little problem go away long enough to pass the test?

make sure your exhaust pipes are hot. The catalytic converter works better when hot.

I would get a mechanic willing to wink-wink-nudge-nudge pass the car.

But, provided you want to do this more legally, change your spark plugs and oil. It will help, but it won’t fix the problem which is usually related to the catalytic converter. Unfortunately they’re expensive.

If "small exhaust leaks are no big deal" (ask the mechanic), then punch your exhaust system before the cat so the exhaust has another place to go. WOW SUDDENLY THERE’S LESS EXHAUST IN THE AIR COMING OUT OF HERE!
