what is emissions trading?

can someone plz explain this in simples words??
In some countries industries are allowed to produce a certain amount of air pollution. Emissions are the air pollutants they put out. If an industry doesn’t make as much air pollution as it’s allowed to make, it can trade or sell the extra pollution allowance to [...]

I have a 2002 Civic and my Engine Emissions System light came on?

well I tightened the gas cap and the light went off a couple days later. But I’ve noticed when I start my car the RPM starts at 1, not 0. I never paid attention to it before to see if it’s done that all along. Should my RPM gauge be at 1 when I start [...]

I have a 03 Envoy and the engine light is on, it reads emission control/ to much fuel in bank 1 what do I do?

take it to the dealer

my emission light turned on and my car died once but started back up after about a minute of hesitation?

i drive a 2002 mazda tribute dx. i want to bring it in but be somewhat informed of what can be expected so i am not taken advantage of by a mechanic. thanks in advanced.
have it scanned ,auto zone or advance either one can scan it for you before you take it to a mechanic, and [...]

why is hydrogen on demand systems to reduce gas consumption and emissions in cars not being talked more about?

the process uses electrolysis to produce hydrogen safely,it then goes into the injectors through the air intake manifold adding the power of 180 octanes to the combustion. The cars computer registers this sends message to reduce mix, thus reducing the gas used.
because it doesn’t work. it’s a scam.
it takes more energy to make the hydrogen [...]

How much CO2 emissions would be considered sustainable for humanity?

If climate change is happening because we are producing too much CO2, how much does humanity have to cut back, in order to get to sustainable levels?
I do not know where there would draw the line. I do not think the environment movement has been very clear about it. I just hope the [...]

High Nox Emissions on a 93 Corolla?

I’ve been having some issues with the emissions on my 1993 Toyota Corolla. In my county, I have to pass E-Check, and I failed it the first time. There was a giant crack in my exhaust manifold at that time, which I (and my mechanic) expected was making my O2 sensor read wrong and was [...]

How to fix a car with higher-than-acceptable emissions?

We have a 1993 Acura Vigor we’d like to keep for as long as possible, but if we can’t get it to pass the NY state standards for clean emissions, we’re going to have to get a new one. The CO levels were 4 times higher than what is acceptable for New York State, so [...]

How do diesel cars and other vehicles stop running when you turn off the ignition key?

I understand how petrol engines stop, by stopping the spark, inhibiting the ignition of the fuel. But diesel engines are run by compression of the diesel at a high temperature, so they don’t require an ignition source other than compression. So how does turning the ignition key stop the engine when its running? Does [...]

Do the emission/Absorbtion wavelengths of an atom change if electrons are ionized from it?

Do the emission/Absorbtion wavelengths of an atom change if electrons are ionized from it?
Yes. They change quite a bit. If you remove an electron, the orbital makeup changes, since the outermost electron is now a completely different electron! So if you pull an electron off of a Li atom, it will behave [...]
